BLACK BELT FOR ANDY!

The dedication, commitment, and hard work to be awarded a black belt in Tae Kwon-Do is real! Having to train multiple times a week, know 9 patterns fluently, performing them with power and realism. Completing line work, set sparring and sparring. This has not stopped Dudley TAGB’s Andy from achieving his 1st Degree Black Belt.

Andy started training with World Master Vince Farquharson at Dudley TAGB Tae Kwon-Do, taking a few years break before returning in 2019 as a red belt. He has then trained throughout lockdown with his sons, achieving his black tag in 2020. Andy has then trained multiple times a week alongside his boys and assisting regularly with teaching at Dudley Tae Kwon-Do. On Saturday, Andy travelled to the national black belt gradings in Daventry to complete his first-degree black belt.

TAGB Black Belt gradings are more intense than any colour belt grading a student has completed. Having 5 Grand Masters observing you can be very nerve-racking. However, Andy managed to complete his grading at a high standard and has successfully been promoted to 1st Degree Black Belt.

Andy’s journey to black belt has not been quick or easy, however the perseverance and courtesy Andy has shown to the art has paid off. Senior instructor, World Master Vince Farquharson, 7th Degree Black Belt commented; “it was great to see Andy back training after a break, especially with his sons now too. He is a great role model in the club who thoroughly deserved his black belt. He demonstrated all the hard work on the day and I am very pleased to be awarding this promotion to Andy”

Congratulations Andy from all the instructors at Dudley TAGB Tae Kwon-Do. The hard work has paid off!
